Oregano is prized for its flavorful leaves and has been widely used in several Mediterranean cuisines for hundreds of years as well as many Mexican dishes. This herb is a perennial and will grow about 10″ tall. Plant in shallow saucers for winter microgreens and harvest by snipping off tender young shoots with scissors. The young shoots have a more subtle flavor than the mature leaves.

Plant: Start the seeds indoors 7 – 8 weeks before the last frost. Transplant to the garden after danger of frost has passed. In mild winter areas, seeds may also be directly sown in the garden in early fall.
Care: Water plants regularly and fertilize when 4″ (10 cm) tall. Pinch the stem tips to increase bushiness.
Harvest: Cut young stems as needed for fresh use. Oregano dries easily and retains its flavor well.
