Description
Pacific Aster
This native species is seen along the coast and in meadows of the western states of North America. This fairly tall mid-summer bloomer is beautiful when planted in groups to produce drifts of colorful blooms. Pacific Aster is a slow-growing species and is moderately drought tolerant and has a high tolerance for salinity.

As a late-season source of both pollen and nectar, asters provide the last opportunity to for many bee colonies to forage. Aster pollen serves as an important late season food source for a variety of bees, butterflies, and other pollinators including the next generation of bumblebee queens foraging prior to entering winter dormancy.
