A native of the Great Plains, this tall drought-tolerant plant has large 2" pale purple to rose colored blooms that are a favorite of hummingbirds. The tall flower stalks rise above foliage that is blue-green and waxy. Also called 'shell-leaf' or 'large flowered' penstemon, these are often found along the meadows and river valleys of the Great Plains states.
